May 2009 Dear Friends, Though the mountains may shake and the billows may roll, there is
a safe harbor where you can find rest and an anchor for your life that is
sure and secure. His name is
Jesus! May the Lord bless you and may
your hope be renewed today. Cheryl A. Botelho, Director
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Many people are weighed down with cares and worries. The burdens of life seem heavy and unable
to bear alone. But God has not called
us to carry our burdens alone. He
offers to carry them for us. He
invites us to lay them down and let Him pick them up. He invites us to put on His yoke, which is
light and to learn from him. He is
meek and humble in heart and he wants to teach us to be the same. When we
come to him he offers us rest for our souls.
Rest from our burdens and worries.
Why? Because He cares for
us. He loves us. Situations and difficulties come into
everyone’s life from time to time but God does not expect us to handle them
on our own. In our stubbornness we
often try to carry the load. This
only leads to unnecessary frustration and heaviness in our spirits. How much better it is to accept Jesus’
invitation to give him our burdens and cares and let him carry them in
exchange for rest in our souls? Who
could pass up an offer like that? Do
you have a burden today? Exchange it
with Jesus. He’s waiting to give you
rest for your soul. “There must be an emptying
before there can be a filling.” George Sweeting
