Most people often spend their whole lives without ever giving a thought about heaven until it’s too late. Many times, it is thought of only when a tragedy strikes or an illness brings us face to face with the possibility of death and eternity. It is then that people may question whether they are going to Heaven or if in fact there even is a Heaven. “How can I know if I’m going to Heaven?” you may ask. Let’s take a look at the question below. What below do you feel is the
best basis for reaching Heaven?
Read further to find out if,
according to God’s Word, you are on your way to Heaven. 1 – The Ten Commandments are God’s absolute rules for
living. No man has ever perfectly
kept them, except for Jesus Christ. A
person can never reach Heaven through his own efforts: “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His [God’s] sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin” Romans 3:20 2,3, or 4 – Gifts to charity, doing one’s best, and leading a good
life are commendable acts, but they will not save anyone: “Not by works of righteousness that we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us” Titus 3:5 5,6, or 7 – Neither good works, trying to obey the Ten Commandments
or giving to the church will get you to Heaven: “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one can boast” Ephesians 2: 8,9 8,9,10, and 11 – Church membership, regular church attendance, prayers and
fasting, are good in themselves but they cannot get justify sinners before a
Holy God: “We are all as an unclean thing, and all of righteousness are as filthy rags” Isaiah 64:4 12 or 13 – Without trusting is Jesus Christ, baptism and Communion
cannot help. The Bible clearly shows
us that these are of no spiritual value unless the person has a personal
faith in Jesus Christ. “But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning
the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both
men and women.” Acts 8:12 “For I have received of the
Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night
in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he
brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this
do in remembrance of me. After
the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is
the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in
remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 14 – Children born into Christian homes need to be saved just
like anyone else. “As many as received Him [Christ], to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name, which were born not of blood [parents], nor of the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God” John 1:12 & 13 15,16, and 17 – Neither Confirmation, penances or extreme unction are the basis for going to Heaven. God has provided only one way of salvation. So what is God’s only way of
salvation? The Bible gives a definite
answer. The one and only means of
spending eternity with God in Heaven is by faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ alone. Because we cannot save ourselves by good works, good character, personal effort, or merit of any kind, God sent His Son to die as a substitute for sinners like you and me. When the Lord Jesus died on the cross and rose again on the third day, He finished the work necessary for salvation. Now all God requires of you is to receive Christ as your personal Lord and Savior: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
and thou shall be saved.” Acts 16:31 When you trust in Christ to save
you, you become a child of God and become and heir to eternal salvation. Will you accept God’s way of
salvation? The choice is yours. You may continue to trust in those things
listed above. If so, you will find at
the end of your life that they will not allow you to enter Heaven. Instead, you will go to the grave without
the hope of salvation and face an eternity separated from God. An eternity of eternal punishment. Or, you can believe in Jesus
Christ and be saved. Be wise! Choose Christ! If you would like to choose Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior now, we encourage you to pray and ask Jesus to come into your heart, to forgive your sins and make you a new person. Do not worry about using the perfect words. Pray from your heart. God is listening to your sincerity not fancy words. He is longing to have a relationship with you. Begin to read the Bible and get to know Him. ** ** If you have
received Jesus as your Lord & Savior or have questions, we have a packet
