		March 24 True Riches
	1 Timothy 6:17-18 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
	The world will try to tell you that riches and wealth are most important in life. But how quickly we have seen examples of great wealth come to ruin overnight. Everyday businesses and tycoons alike go bankrupt because stocks went sour. Anyone who listens to the reports on Wall Street can see that the stability and security of investments changes daily. What is strong today can plummet over night leaving you penniless. The stock market crash of the 1920’s is a perfect example of how unstable it is to put your security in riches. The entire financial security of a nation was plunged into ruin within days. Paul wrote to Timothy warning him to not trust in wealth. He told those who were wealthy not become proud and arrogant nor to put their trust in their riches. Instead he encouraged them to put their trust in God who provides all that we need whether we are wealthy or not. If we belong to Christ then we can be sure that he will also take care of us no matter what our financial status. He challenged them to be rich in good deeds. Do good for others. If you were blessed with wealth then be generous and willing to share. Let your wealth cause you to be humble not arrogant. Riches can disappear in a moment, but God’s provisions never fail. Are you trusting in your riches today? Remember: “It is better to have nothing and have God, then to have everything and not have God.” Prayer Suggestion: Lord, You are my provider. My trust is in You. May I be rich in doing good deeds, sharing and generous with all that You have blessed me with. Back to March
