		March 23 Can You Hear His Voice?
	John 10:4 The sheep follow [the shepherd] because they know his voice.
	Sheep are funny animals. They are known to be dumb at times and get into dumb situations, which is why they so desperately need a shepherd to watch over them. But there is one characteristic of sheep that is very interesting. Over time a sheep will grow such a strong attachment and bond to their shepherd that they will respond only to his voice. Overtime they will learn to know his voice above other voices and will not take direction from anyone other than their shepherd. This is how we should be as Christians in our relationship with the Lord. Jesus is our Great Shepherd and we are His sheep. Over time, our relationship with Him should develop to such a bond and attachment that we learn to hear His voice above all others. There are many 'voices' in this world that will try to lead and direct us, but it is important for us to recognize the voice of Jesus so that we are following him and him only. Many people have gone astray in their Christian walk because they did not develop a close relationship with Jesus. They did not learn to recognize His voice and when the voices of others called to them, they could not discern that these voices were not that of their Shepherd. And sadly, they went astray. Learning to know the Shepherd's voice comes from spending time with Him. It comes, not only from praying, but from taking time to be quiet and listening. It comes from reading the Bible, God's Word, and knowing what it says. Jesus will never speak anything to you that is contrary to His Word. This is one way to help discern who's speaking to you. Always remember-any voice that does not speak the truth of God's Word is not safe to follow. How well do you know the Great Shepherd's voice? Prayer Suggestion: Jesus, thank you that You’re my Shepherd and I am your sheep. Help me learn to hear your voice and to be able to recognize it above all others.
