Mark 10:46-52  And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.  And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.  And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.  And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.  And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Bartimaeus had an encounter with Jesus. He had been desperate.  He had determined to cry out when others told him to be quiet.  He was willing to throw aside whatever hindered him.  He humbled himself and was honest enough to speak his need.  And when he did this, he immediately received his sight.  He was healed!  All that he ever wanted had become his.  He could see!

He could have done a million things.  He could have gone home to his family and friends.  He could have desired to get a good job and become someone of status.  He could have gone his way and done his own thing but instead it says that he followed Jesus.  In his gratitude and appreciation, he could think of nothing that he wanted more than to follow the one who had healed him.  To follow the one whom he loved for changing his life.  He would never be the same again.  His name would no longer be ‘blind’ Bartimaeus because he was no longer blind.

When you are touched by Jesus, you will never be the same again.  And you will want nothing more than to follow the one who has changed you because you will love Him deeply.

Prayer Suggestion: Father, thank you for touching my life.  I commit to follow you and love you with all my heart.
