		March 5 God’s Mercy
	Ephesians 2:4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.
	Mercy is leniency and compassion shown toward offenders by a person or agency charged with administering justice. Each of us, because of sin, lacked true life. Our sin caused us to be separate from the life that God had created us for. We were dead spiritually. In ourselves we could never bridge the gap that spanned between us and our creator. But God’s love for us superceded the punishment we deserved and reached down to us through Jesus Christ. His love looked beyond our fallen state and saw our need. Even though our offenses made us guilty, God in his mercy showed compassion and paid the price himself so that we could be free. In his compassion he poured out grace so that we might have salvation and be reconciled to him. The mercy and grace of God are things that I cannot fully understand, but I thank God for them. I thank God that in spite of my sinful fallen condition his love for me was greater than what I deserved and came to meet my need anyway. When was the last time you actually thought about it?
