Romans 8:26  Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words.

There have been many times in my Christian walk when I have come into prayer so heavy burdened that I cannot even find the words to pray.  In those times I may sometimes only be able to muster up a sigh.  My heart is so troubled that I simply cannot speak.  But I have learned over the years that it is OK for me to come to my Lord like this.  In fact, when I am in this condition there is no better place to come than to God.

When Jesus returned to Heaven we were given the Holy Spirit as a helper.  And yes, He is able to help us even with praying.  When I cannot find the words to express my need the Spirit himself prays for me.  He is able to translate and express my deep painful sighs to the Lord on my behalf.  He takes over.  How wonderful is the Holy Spirit that He would even speak for me when I cannot.

Are you so burdened right now that you cannot find the words to pray?   Please don’t let that keep you from coming to the Lord in prayer even if all you can muster up is a deep sigh.  The Holy Spirit will be with you to speak what you cannot.  He will make intercession for you.  God knows your deepest prayer even when your voice cannot verbalize it clearly.

Prayer Suggestion: Holy Spirit, thank you for being with me always.  Thank you that when I cannot express my prayers you make intercession for me.  You express even my sighs to the Father.  How wonderful You are!
